Gita Gyan Yagya on 12th Chapter, Bhakti Yoga, by Pujya Bhaishri in Kolkata

As per the past few years, a five day Gita Gyan Yagya by Pujya Bhaishri was organised at the Kala Mandir Auditorium in Kolkata by Shri Ashokji Bajoria and family from 26th September to 30th September 2018. The five-day discourse was based on the 12th chapter of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.

A summary of Pujya Bhaishri’s five day teachings are presented below with glimpses of the this Gyan Yagya.

Day 1

  • Although this is the smallest chapter consisting of twenty ślokas, it is the greatest as it based on Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion).
  • Gita summarises all the scriptures. Bhagavad Gita is the best means to attain liberation. The greatest God is the son of Devaki, Shri Krishna; the greatest mantra is God’s name and the greatest Karma (deed) is Shri Krishna’s Seva (service) as well as His worship. Any task we perform must be done as His service and worship.
  • Watch the video for Day 1 in which Pujya Bhaishri talks about love.

Day 2

  • An atheist is one who defames the Vedas.
  • Puja is a worthless exercise if love for God is absent.
  • Seva provides happiness. One performing service should ensure that Seva is providing happiness to the Lord.

Day 3

  • Happiness and sorrow do not affect one who is filled with devotion for God. No can insult us without out will.
  • Perform Seva and obey your Dharma with this body given to us by God. Doing good for others is the best Seva and helping others is Dharma.
  • Forgiveness is the ornament of the brave.

Day 4

  • Shri Krishna is the best musician as well as the master of all Arts.
  • Bhakti (devotion) means love for God.
  • Learn how to forgive in life.
  • Satisfaction is the greatest wealth of a person.
  • Wealth and fulfilment of desires/pleasures are natural wants of all. Control them rather than suppressing them.
  • Fall in the path of knowledge makes one a non-believer, fall in the path of Karma (actions) leads to being ill and fall in the path of devotion makes one worldly/pleasure- seeking, therefore take refuge in a Sadguru.

Day 5

  • Compassion is not the work but the nature of God.
  • We cannot experience God due to our attachment for this world. Experience and understanding comes with satsang.
  • Money can give you comfort, not happiness.
  • One can carry on in life without God but not without Dharma. A human being without Dharma is like an animal.

The discourse on the 12th chapter will continue in Kolkata next year.
