“Voting: our right and duty,” Pujya Bhaishri at Sadhana Weekly Awards

Pujya Bhaishri attended the award ceremony, as a chief guest, organised by Sadhana Weekly at Ahmedabad today, on 24th March 2019.

Pujya Bhaishri honoured and presented the ‘Shri Ramanbhai Shah – Sādhanā Patrakāritā Gaurav‘ (Sadhana Journalist Gaurav) award to the senior journalist and editor of Divya Bhaskar, Shri Krishnakant Unadkat. Other awards were also presented to those who had performed exceedingly well at Sadhana Weekly.

Pujya Bhaishri’s speech during the event was as follows:

I have said this many times and repeating it is a Sadhana. Ordinary things are said once, important things twice and extremely important things are repeated as well as recited. This is Sadhana. Hence I have been repeating and narrating the Bhagavat Katha for many years. The same Katha is being repeated.

Repetition has so much impact that even lies repeated many times begin to feel like the truth. Then when time comes, the truth is revealed. In ordinary circumstances, repetition creates boredom leading to lack of interest, then joy and eventually fatigue. However, I am repeating this as it related to the event today and is very important.

The culture and nationalism of the country (Bharat) can be hypothesised into three words: Satyam (Truth), Shivam (The Supreme) and Sundaram (Beautiful). It is the duty of the following three professions to follow these three principles.

A journalist must follow and implement the Truth, a narrator must follow the Supreme Being and an artist must follow and implement beauty. Should they do this virtuously, then the Government will run appropriately.

Our democracy is strong. This is because of our dutiful and hard-working journalists. Let us all please vote. I ensure that I vote even in my busy schedule. According to me, those who do not vote do not have the right to criticise the Government. Voting is not only our right, but also our duty, please vote sensibly.

Shri Krishnakantbhai Unadkat expressed that receiving an award from a divine Sant is of great honour and meant a lot to him.
