On Day 2 of Bhagavat Katha in Junamaka, Patan, Pujya Bhaishri talked about the root cause of sorrows and also why Dharma is so important in our life.
There is only one path to live happily in life, which is, not paying attention to the deficiencies. Today, our situation is such that we do not enjoy what we have got but we dwell on what we do not have and make life grim.
The root cause of sorrows is not our necessity but our desires. Our necessities may be fulfilled at some point, but desires will never be complete, nor has anybody’s desires been fulfilled to date. When one desire is fulfilled, another rises. This is why our authors of scriptures have said, “āśā hi paramam dukham nairāśyam paramam sukham”.
No one can make us unhappy in this world. Our expectations only make us cry.
It is also true that how will perform actions if we have no desires? A life without desires also invites sadness. However, one with extreme desires and who is dissatisfied always remains unhappy.
