Who will show us whether our life is like Ram or Ravan?
Ram katha is not just history. Goswami Shri Tulsidasji has given us this mirror to reflect on our lives. A picture or photograph shows us our past. However, a mirror shows us our present. You will look twenty five years old, young and pretty in a picture taken when you were 25 years old. Thereafter, if you turn and look into a mirror, it will show you your current image where you possibly have white hair, or even no hair, less teeth and wrinkles! A mirror has no relationship with our past or future. It only shows our present.
Goswami Tulsidasji’s Manas is also a mirror. Let us look at ourselves when we listen to this katha. We will then find out what our life is like; is it like a Rishi or a demon? Like a demi-god or devil? Like Ram or Ravan? We can relate our personality with one character or another in this katha and see our image in the flow of this katha. We will find out whether we are like Shabri or Shurpankha. We do not need to say out loud but within us we will understand what we are and where we stand. A mirror never lies.
Let us all give some time in the day to this mirror-like Ram Charit Manas by Tulsidasji, follow the good advice provided and make our lives better and divine. When someone shows us a dirty mark on our face, we cannot see this with our own eyes. As soon as we see our image in the mirror we will know where and what the dirty mark on our face is. Similarly, when we sit in front of this mirror-like Ram Charit Manas we will see the faults in our life that destroy our beauty.
Consequently, once we find out our vices, then a wise person will sensibly try to get rid of these faults. This is when our studying of this scripture will be considered successful. We will dress ourselves with good qualities and live a beautiful life.
Ram katha will provide us with happiness, peace and bliss. Indeed the combination of happiness, peace and bliss is Shri Ram. All in all, we will attain The Supreme Reality, Shri Ram.
