17th Annual Festival – Sandipani Vidyaniketan celebrated in great splendour
On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, 14 January 2001 commenced the 17th Annual Festival of Sandipani Vidyaniketan with the inauguration of sports competitions. The winning teams of past 3 years in all games cricket, volley ball, kho-kho, etc. were presented with sports equipments on behalf of the Managing Trustee of the institute Shri Madhubhai Mehta.
Rishikumars were served sweet dishes for lunch to celebrate the birthday of Shri Natubhai Baadiyani the Honorary Secretary of the institute. His son Shri Manoj bhai presented gifts to the cricket team to encourage them.
The Rishikumars organised a Shanti yagna on 15 January 2001. Shri Mansukhbhai Joshi, Vice President of the institute was the chief host of this yagna. Along with the yagna intellectual competitons such as elocution, sutra antaakshari, shloka antaakshari, veda-mantra antaakshari, debate on shastras, etc. were also conducted.
A ‘Rudraabhisheka’ and other ‘poojas’ were arranged at the temple of Shri Baabadeshwar Mahadev, which is at a distance of about 12 km.
On 16 January 2001, the foundation day of the Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya a cultural program was presented in the evening presided by Shri Gajanan bhai Thaker, the principal of Raamba Graduate Teacher’s College of Porbandar. The manager of Arya Kanyashala, Shri Kanak bhai Dave was the chief guest of this function. In this program the Rishikumars presented a Sanskrit drama Draupadisubhagam’ written by Prof. Shri Krishna Mishraji of our Vidyaniketan. 19 Rishikumars presented a musical extravaganza, which was an excellent example of a beautiful synthesis between the different instruments. The entire function was an edifying musical experience, which left the audience enthralled.
Rishikumar Shri Bharat Sheelu welcomed the guests with his inaugural speech, which he delivered in simple Sanskrit.
Principal Shri Ramadhani Shuklaji informed the guests about the various activities of the institute. The President and the Chief Guest presented the prizes to the participants.
The President in his speech said that various items presented by them amply demonstrated the proficiency achieved by the Rishikumars in song, music and acting.
Shri Kanakbhai Dave congratulated the Rishikumars for successful presentation of the program.
