Divine Darshan of Lord Shiv and Lord Shri Krishna during Shravan month at Shri Hari Mandir

The Hindu lunar month of Shravan month is dedicated to Lord Shiv in which devotees perform various types of ceremonies to worship and please Him. At Shri Hari Mandir, Shravan month was celebrated in several ways with great enthusiasm.

Rudrabhishek and laghurudrabhishek were performed every morning on Shri Chandramauleshwar Bhagavan. Laghurudrabhishek was also performed on Lord Babadeshwar in the town of Babda located near Porbandar by the Sandipani Rishikumars.

In the afternoons, Lord Shiv and the whole temple were adorned beautifully. A large number of devotees swarmed the temple to perform this divine darshan. One day Lord Shiv would be seen to be strolling through the forest, another day je would sit amidst a pond of lotuses or a vegetable farm, or even meditating in a house filled with Rudraksh.

Whilst Lord Shiv is worshipped by performing abhishek and various ornamentation, in the Pushti tradition, Lord Shri Krishna is pleased by rocking him on a swing. Hence, at Sandipani, baby Shri Krishna was lovingly rocked on swings decorated with roses, peacock feathers, vegetables, dry fruits and leaves of Ashok tree during the entire Shravan month.

Sacred flags were hoisted on top of the Shri Hari Mandir temples. This was sponsored on different days by Mukeshbhai Dutta and family, Govindji Joshi and family, Porbandar, Indiraben Sadhu, Mumbai, Rambhai Mokaria, Porbandar, Meenandbhai Khunti, Porbandar, Karubhai Ramdevbhai Odedra, Mumbai and Hiteshbhai Vyas, Porbandar.

All the festivals that fall during Shravan month including Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami and Pujya Bhaishri’s birthday were celebrated with great fanfare, as detailed in separate reports for these.
