On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, a three day Guru Purnima mahotsav was organised at Sandipani Vidyaniketan, Porbandar. After eight years Pujya Bhaishri was in India for Guru Purnima and thus made it really special for all his students and devotees.

On the 9th of July, famous singer Shri Ashok Khosla gave a bhajan performance followed by Shri Sairam Dave of Gondal.

On the 10th of July the new Gurukul building was inaugurated by Pujya Bhaishri and present Trustees. Pujya Bhaishri gave an enlightening discourse in the evening to all present and in the night a colourful cultural program was presented by the students of Rishikul and Gurukul.

The program on 11th July, 2006 on Guru Purnima began with the dhwajapujan and dhwajarohan of Shri Hari Mandir after which Pujya Bhaishri addressed all the students and teachers of Sandipani Vidyaniketan, Rishikul and Gurukul and devotees present from India and abroad at the Sandipani Auditorium. He gave an enlightening discourse at this sacred event. He said today we must pay our first obeisance to our parents. They are the ones who have brought us into this world and are our first Gurus. It is said that the lap of the mother is the greatest University. Hence our pranam to our mother and father. Our second obeisance should be paid to our teachers who through the medium of education and with their great efforts have made us so capable today. Just like a potter moulds a pot so does a teacher, a child. Though the moulding might seem harsh at times it is the benefit of the child that the teacher has in mind. Our third obeisance to our spiritual Guru, one who has given us dikshawho has inculcated important sanskars in us, enriched us with good values and is leading us onto the path of God-realisation. Our fourth obeisance should be paid to the sansar, the world around us which continues to teach us important lessons every single day. Hence the world is our Guru too. Last but not the least, our fifth pranam to God, to Shri Krishna who is the Jagadguru, the Supreme Benefactor.

Hence, today, pay your respects to all five.

“Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnuh, Gururdevo Maheshvarah, Gurur sakshaat parab Brahma, tasmai Shriguru ve namah.”

The program concluded with all students, teachers, devotees present paying their respects to Pujya Bhaishri by doing charan vandan.
