Jogi akantak bhae pati gati sunat Rati muruchit bhai,
rodati badati bahu bhaanti karuna karati Shankar pahi gai;
Ati prem kari binati bibidh bidhi jori kar sanmukh rahi,
Prabhu Aasutosh krupaal Shiv abalaa nirakhi bole sahi.
On hearing the incident with Kaamdev, his wife, Rati became unconscious. Weeping, she went to Shankarji and begged for her husband’s life back as he had died in trying to help the world. Shankarji mercifully said,
“Ab te Rati tav naath kar hoihi naamu anangu, binu bapu byaapihi sabahi puni sunu nij milan prasangu.”
“I will bring your husband back to life, but he will exist in all living beings without a body”.
Rati said, “God, you have provided life to my husband but for the purpose of this world. I know that the world cannot move on without my husband. You have not re-born my husband for me. Thus, how can I be satisfied by getting my husband back without his body?”
Shankarji replied,
“Jab jadubans Krishna avataara, hoihi haran mahaa mahibhaara,
Krishna tanay hoihi pati tora, bachanu anyathaa hoi na mora.
At the end of Dwapar era, when Shri Krishna is born in the clan of Yadavas to remove the load of sins from this world, you will get your husband back in the form of Shri Krishna’s son”.
In the Shrimad Bhagavat, Shri Krishna marries Rukminiji and their first born, Pradyumna, is Kaamdev, who Rati attains back with his body.
Thereafter, Brahmaji and the demi-gods came to Shivji and all individually performed stuti of Shivji. Shankarji asked the reason for their arrival and they reminded him the promise he had made to Ramji. Brahmaji explained that all the demi-gods have a desire to see Lord Shiv’s wedding:
Sakal suranh ke hraday as Shankar param uchaahu, nij nayananhi dekha chahahi naath tumhaar bibaahu.
Shankarji recalled his promise to Ramji and replied, “So this will indeed happen!”
On hearing this, the demi-gods played drums and praised Lord Shiv:
tab devanh dundubhi bajaai, barashi suman jai jai sur saai;
Avasaru jaani Saptarishi aai….
Saptarishi arrived seeing the right moment and Brahmaji sent them to Himachal to prepare and bring a wedding invitation. Saptarishi come to Parvati once again to test her love. They say to Parvatiji,
“kahaa hamaar na sunehu tab Narad ke updes, ab bhaa jooth tumhaar pan jaareu kaamu Mahesu;
Relying on the advice of Narad, you would not heed our objections then. Your vow has failed now for the great Lord Shiv has burnt the god of love.”
Parvatiji replied, “great sages, in your eyes Shivji has burnt Kaamdev now, but to my mind,
hamare jaan Sadashiv jogi, aj anavadhya akaam abhogi – Shivji is eternally united with the Infinite, is eternal, free from blame and free from passion.”
Saptarishi were elated on seeing Parvatiji’s love for Shivji. They bowed to her and went to Himachal. Himachal has brought her daughter back home and is pleased to hear that Shankarji is ready to accept his daughter. Himachal paid his respects to Saptarishi and then,
sudinu sunakhatu sughari sochaai, begi bedbidhi lagan dharaai,
he arranged the auspicious date of the wedding and gave the invitation to Saptarishi. Brahmaji was delighted to receive the wedding invitation from Saptarishi.
