Gita Panchaha Gyan Yagna by Pujya Bhaishri reaches the hearts of hundreds in London
Sanskruti foundation UK organised the Gita Panchaha Gyan Yagna, a recitation of the Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 12 (Bhakti Yoga) by Pujya Bhaishri from 13th to 17th August 2003 at Byron Hall, Harrow.
Bhaishri explained in detail, with his simple style, the importance and relevance of the Bhakti Yoga in the lives of men today. He explained the characteristics of a true Bhakta (devotee) that is loved by Lord Krishna, as explained in the Gita by Krishna Himself. Bhaishri said that if we adopt these values and characteristics, our lives will improve and our journey to reach God will become easier.
It was emphasised by Bhaishri that in the path of Bhakti, the path of love, the biggest sin is ahankar (ego). He continued to stress that to be a good ‘Yogi’, we should all first be upayogi (useful). By practising prem (love) towards God, we become upayogi to God. By practising tyag (sacrifice) we become upayogi to ourselves, and by practising sewa (service), we become upayogi to society.
Bhaishri used Sanskrit Shlokas, traditional Gujarati literature (lok sahitya), Gujarati and Hindi poetry and every day stories in his soulful voice, accompanied by music, to teach the 2000-strong audience the words of Lord Krishna spoken 5000 years ago.
On Monday 18th August, a special Rudrabhishek Shiv Pujan took place. Five pundits from a South Indian Yajur Veda Sampraday chanted sacred mantras and verses creating a truly divine atmosphere in Byron Hall. Pujya Bhaishri and 1500 other devotees took part in a special Havan and Rudrabhishek pujan.
Throughout the 6 days, well known singers from Gujarat, namely Sachin and Ashita Limai, Dipti Desai and Jaydeep Swadhyay, sang devotional songs prior to Pujya Bhaishri’s discourses creating a wonderful atmosphere in the hearts and minds of all those who had attended the programme. The compere of the event was Tushar Joshi who spoke in his poetic voice and captured the attention of the audience.
Many saints attended the event to give their blessings and enjoy the discourses by Bhaishri including Pujya Shri Bhupendrabhai Pandya, Pujya Shri Jashbhai Sahebji of the Anoopam Mission, Swami Shri Keshwanandji, and Shri Gauri Das Adhikariji of the ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple in Watford.
