“May you be afflicted by Kathaguniya and not Chickenguniya,” said Pujya Bhaishri during the Khargon Bhagavat katha whilst explaining Bhagavat Mahatmya

The Khargon katha began on 29th October. This was the first occasion of holding a katha in the Khargon Nimaad. It was organized by ‘Shrimad Bhagavat Katha Gyan Yagya Samiti’. The main objective of this katha was to utilize the funds collected during this katha for marrying the Dalit girls and educating the Dalit students.

The grand Shobha-yatra of Shrimad Bhagavat commenced in the morning of 29th Oct. Decorated elephants, camels, horses and buggies participated in the Shobha-yatra. The Shobha-yatra arrived at the venue of katha after traversing the streets of Khargon. All residents of Khargon felt privileged to get the darshan of Shobha-yatra. Brahmins chanting the Veda Mantras and ladies holding the auspicious kalash on their head welcomed ‘Shrimad Bhagavat at the main entrance. Pujya Bhaishri performed the worship of the installed deities. The host family performed the worship of Shrimad Bhagavatji and Pujya Bhaishri. Shri 1008 Raghavanand ji maharaj of Dhamnod lighted the auspicious lamp. Shri Shri Raghavanand ji maharaj in his address said that one gets the opportunity of listening to the Bhagavat katha only when the fruits of good deeds performed over many births ripen to bear their good results. Thereafter Pujya Bhaishri began narrating the katha.

Explaining the glory of Shrimad Bhagawat he said that though one may have committed most gruesome sins through one’s acts, thoughts or speech, yet by listening to Shrimad Bhagavat Katha one gets absolved of all sins and attains liberation. Just as the animals in a forest tremble on hearing the roar of lion, so also by hearing Bhagavat katha all sins run away. Today the disease of Chickenguniya is spread over wide areas of our country. I bless you all that all of you may be afflicted by ‘Kathaguniya’. Liberation is instantly attained by hearing the Katha of Shrimad Bhagavat. Just as a betel leaf becomes red by applying catechu (Kaththa) similarly when Bhagavat Katha enters in our life our life becomes colourful.

Shri Krishna Janmotsav was celebrated with great zest at 9 p.m. on 2nd Nov. The entire katha marquee was decorated with balloons and buntings for this occasion. The organizing committee presented a beautiful presentation of Shri Krishna Janmotsava. Prasad of Chappan Bhog (56 delicacies) were offered to Bhagavan Shri Govardhandhari on the occasion of Govardhan parva. After this utsava Prasad was distributed to all. A grand Shobha-yatra of Lord Krishna was taken out for Rukmini Vivaha. The wedding of Lord Krishna with Rukmini was accomplished with traditional rituals.

During the katha, community weddings of dalit girls were also organized. Government officials, renowned Saints and Mahants and Pujya Bhaishri blessed the newly wedded couples. The organizing General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Shri Kaptansingh Solanki also came for this community wedding. In his speech he said that if the government and Shrimad Bhagavat work jointly then no one in the society wood remain poor or helpless. Such programmes demonstrate the truism of “Sanghe Shaktih Kalauyuge” i.e. Coming together and uniting makes us strong in this Kaliyuga. Smt. Jamunadevi, Leader of the Opposition in M.P. assembly also came during the katha.

The Chief host of this katha was Shri Babulal Mahajan M.L.A. of Madhya Pradesh.
