Bhagavat Katha flows to Dallas, USA after 15 years
Pujya Bhaishri returned to Dallas, Texas for the divine Prasang after 15 years — he had conducted “Shrimad Bhagavat Katha” in the summer of 1992 and a return visit to Dallas was indeed due for a long time! Pujya Bhaishri conducted an eight day “Shrimad Bhagavat Katha” in Dallas from June 10th-June 17th, 2007.
The prime organizer of the Katha was the Dallas/Fort Worth Hindu Temple Society, and the Katha was held at the Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. A notable and unique fact is that this was the same venue that was used in 1992 — however, the building had undergone extensive refurbishments and therefore, the hall could hold a much larger capacity this time!
Pujya Bhaishri did an outstanding narration of the “Shrimad Bhagavat” — one of the major Utsavs during the Katha was “Shri Krishna Janma”. On the day of the Janma, Pujya Bhaishri conducted a 5-½ hr. session and right as the clock struck twelve-midnight, he sang “Jai Kanihaiya Lalji” with divinity and fervor to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.
During the Krishna-Janma, Pujya Bhaishri distributed prasadam to the devotees from the stage and the devotees scrambled intensely to try and grab the lucky prasadam! “Shri Govardhan Puja” was celebrated with a magnificent ‘Annakut’ and this was followed by “Shri Rukhmani Vivah” on the concluding day of the Katha. The youth groups of Dallas volunteered extensively to participate in the all of the Utsavs by dressing up in colorful costumes and fulfilled the roles very well.
On Saturday, June 16th, Pujya Bhaishri conducted a 1-¼ hour “Youth Session” at the Dallas/Fort Worth Hindu Temple. The temple atmosphere was indeed very divine and Pujya Bhaishri’s presence created a special and spiritual atmosphere. The youth presented questions to Pujya Bhaishri [in English] and Pujya Bhaishri normally speaks in Gujarati or Hindi – however, he made a concerted effort to reply to the Jigyasas in English, and his diction and explanations were wonderfully well received by the Youth.
The volunteer teams of the Dallas Katha did a magnificent job to organize the Katha – they were dedicated, committed, hard working and they did everything possible to make the event a resounding success.
