The Dwarka katha began on 9th May 2007. It was organised by the Samasta Rabari Samaj. Shri Babubhai Jesangbhai Vatami was the Chief Host. The occasion of holding Pujya Bhaishri’s Katha in Lord Shri Krishna’s Dwarka city arrived after 15 years.

The Shobhayatra commenced from the celebrated temple of Shri Dwarkadheesh and after vending its way through various streets of Dwarka it arrived at the Katha venue. His Holiness, Shankaracharya Shri Swarupanandji of Dwarka Peeth kindled the auspicious lamp. In his inaugural address His Holiness said that getting the opportunity to hear the narration of the divine leela of Sri Krishna was indeed a very rare and fortunate event even for the Gods dwelling in heaven. Only when the fruits of our good deeds performed over many lives ripen do we get such a priceless opportunity. He compared Pujya Bhaishri as being the modern day Shukadevji.

Commencing his katha Pujya Bhaishri reminded the people of the proverbial quote:
“Ayodhya Mathura Maya Kashi Kanchi Avantika
Puri Dwaravati chaiwa Saptaita Moksha Dayika”.

i.e. Dwarka is one of the seven cities that ensures the liberation of people who went there. Listening to Lord Shri Krishna’s divine story in such holy city should be considered as being an extremely fortunate and fulfilling event of our life.

The event of Shri Krishna Janmotsava was celebrated with great zest and fervour at 10 p.m. A beautiful crib of Sri Krishna Janmotsava was presented by Googali Brahman Samaj. Offerings of Chhappan Bhog (56 delicacies) were presented to Dwarkadheeshji. Cows, Lord Sri Krishna’s dearest pets were worshipped by Pujya Bhaishri. On 15th May the Rukmini vivah was solemnised with great fanfare. The wedding procession of Lord Dwarkadeeshji passed through the whole of Dwarka city and arrived at the venue for the wedding.

Popular TV channel Aastha telecasted this entire katha live which enabled millions of viewers worldwide to see it from the comforts of their homes.
