“Desist from indulging in female foeticide” stressed Pujya Bhaishri during Junagadh Katha
Bhagavat Katha at Junagadh, Gujarat, India was held from 26th January to 2nd February, 2007. The opportunity of organizing a Bhagavat katha in the native place of renowned Bhakta Narasimha Mehta came almost after 20 years. After the Shobhayatra, the auspicious lamp was kindled by Santshri Muktanand Bapu of Brhamanand Dham (Chaparda) and Param Pujya Mahamandaleshwar Shri Bharati Bapu.
In view of the Republic day, Pujya Bhaishri in his inaugural speech said that,”Our country is a Prajasattak country i.e. it is ruled by People’s will; while Shrimad Bhagavat is a Premsattak granth i.e. it is a scripture of love. The Britishers came to our land many centuries ago and they ruled over us for so many years only because of our internal bickering. They divided us and made us fight with each other. Finally great patriots such as Shahid Bhagatsingh, Chanrashekhar Azad, Mahatma Gandhi and others gave us their message of unity and inspired to fight successfully to get our independence.
While narrating Bhagavat katha Pujya Bhaishri appealed people to desist from indulging in feticide of girls and made people take an oath that they will not be a party to feticide and will also prevent others from doing it. Many times one wonders whether we have progressed or have we regressed backwards? In the medieval times people used to kill girl children by making her drink milk and in the process drowning her in it while in present times people have become ‘educated’; they don’t even let her see the light of the day. They kill her in the mother’s womb. So, have we moved forward or backward? In our scriptures, the feminine power has been given more importance. Names of our Gods begin with the names of their consorts. e.g. Laxminarayan, Radhakrishna, Umamaheshwar, so on and so forth. While the girls who are manifestation of the same supreme feminine power, are killed by us in the wombs. We don’t allow them to be born.
The Education Minister of Gujarat who had come to hear Pujya Bhaishri’s katha also asked people to desist from indulging in feticide of girls.
Medical camps such as Eye camp, Dental check-ups, Blood donation camp, etc. were also organized during the katha. The Governor of Gujarat, H. E. Navalkishore Sharma came to hear Pujya Bhaishri’s katha on the concluding day and accepted Bhaishri’s blessings.
