Kathas are our mirros” said Pujya Bhaishri during Kolkata Katha, India

On the occasion of the 50th birthday of Anantshri Vibhushit Swami Rasbiharidas Kathiababaji, Pujya Bhaishri’s Bhagavat katha was organised by the Varna Jayanti Mahotsav Samiti, Shri Kathiababa Charitable Trust in Kolkata. The chief host of the katha was Shri Rajivji Kabra. The Committee also organised a Navkundiya Gopal Mahayagna and the divine Maharaas Leela along with the katha.

A grand shobha yatra of the pothiji was first carried out. Swami Shri Kathiababa then inaugurated the katha with deepa pragatya. Thereafter, he narrated the importance of the Shrimad Bhagavat. He said that that merely by listening to Shrimad Bhagavat katha the human soul, which is tormented by afflictions like desire, lust, anger and pride, acquires liberation and attains supreme bliss. Moreover, he said that we were very fortunate that we were hearing this divine katha by celebrated Pujya Bhaishri who is revered and admired all over the world.

Pujya Bhaishri recited the katha saying, “We should listen to the Shrimad Bhagavat with the purpose of discovering our own faults and shortcomings. Both Shrimad Bhagavat and Ramcharit Manas function as our mirrors. By looking into these mirrors, we discover whether we are like Ram or Ravan, or like Shabri or Shoorpankha. After looking in these mirrors, if we succeed in transforming our lives and getting rid of our shortcomings, we will become the darlings of Lord Shri Krishna. Hence during this eight day katha, let us look in this mirror, Shrimad Bhagavat, and introspect ourselves.

During his stay in Kolkata, Pujya Bhaishri visited the hospital run by the local ‘Nagrik Swasthya Sang’ and talked to the patients about their wellbeing. He also witnessed the divine Maharaas Leela and performed the Aarati of Lord Shri Vrinadavanvihari.
