Guwahati Katha
Shri Katha Satsang Samiti hosted a Shrimad Bhagavat Katha by Pujya Bhaishri at Guwahati, the capital city of the North Eastern state of Assam, from 16th to 22nd March 2010. The President of Shri Satsang Samiti, Shri Manikchand Jhalanji, performed pooja on all 7 days of Katha.
The land Assam is also known as Kaamroop, which means, the form of Kaamdev, because Kaamdev (the God of love) had meditated in this place. Guwahati is very famous for its Kamakshi temple. The temple is one of the 52 shaktipeeth (centre of worshipping energy in the form of the mother Goddess) of India.
The Shobha Yatra took place on the first day with great fanfare and reached the Katha venue, Vrindavan Garden, amidst devotional chants and kirtan. Pujya Bhaishri then commenced narrating the Katha after the kindling of the auspicious lamp.
Emphasising the role of faith and trust in our lives, Pujya Bhaishri said that the trust without faith is incomplete and vice versa. Therefore, to begin our spiritual journey meaningfully, we should unite our trust and faith. Pujya Bhaishri also commented that the awakening of Hindus will lead to the rising of the whole world. In the present times, there is a dire need for a great seer and visionary like Shankaracharya and Vivekananda who can bring about the awakening of people. The subject of national awakening dominated this katha.
Nandotsav, Giriraj pooja and Shri Rukmini vivah were celebrated with immense joy during the katha. Pujya Bhaishri also went for darshan of river Brahmaputra and Maa Kamakhya during his stay in Guwahati.
