Bhagavat katha flows to Kurukshetra, Haryana, India for the second time
With the blessings and inspiration of Brahmaleen (Late) Shri Devendra Swarup Brahmachariji Shrimad Bhagavat Katha of Pujya Bhaishri was organized from the 4th – 11th December, 2005 on the occasion of Shri Gita Jayanti at Kurukshetra, Haryana, the site where Lord Krishna enlightened Arjuna with his inspiring divine song Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. It was organized by Shri Brahma Swarup Brahmachariji maharaj. This was the second Shrimad Bhagavat katha on the sacred banks of Shri Brahma sarovar.
A grand Shobha yatra was taken out in which scenes of different incidents of Krishna-leela were displayed. The Shobha yatra arrived at the katha marquee after traversing through the various areas to the great delight and ecstasy of the people of Kurukshetra. The families of the hosts Shri Krishna Mittal and Shri Shankar Mittal worshipped Shrimad Bhagwatji with great reverence and devotion. Many saints and sadhus had come on the occasion of the commencement of the katha. They addressed the gathering and conveyed their blessings for the program. Thereafter the auspicious lamp was kindled by Shrimati Ashadevi Hudda, wife of the Chief Minister of Haryana. This was the first time when the lamp of the Bhagavat Katha was being kindled by a lady. She was seized with a feeling of immense joy and in her speech said that it was her great fortune that she got this opportunity to come here and listen to the katha. She sought blessings of Pujya Bhaishri for her husband Shri Bhupendra Singhji Hudda so that he may enjoy good health and continue to serve the country. The Chief Secretary of Haryana State also came to listen to the katha and offered her worship to the pothiji.
During the katha, Pujya Bhaishri emphasized the importance of satsang saying: “Ek ghadi aadhi ghadi, aadhi mein puni aadh” i.e. Even a moment’s Satsang in life can lead to emancipation. Therefore the sages have commanded in the scriptures that every person should listen to the scriptures or to the words of the saints at least for a few minutes every day. Because, doing so purifies mind and increases faith and love for God. In modern times provisions have been made for preventing milk, vegetables, medicines, etc. from spoiling. However what provision have we made for preventing people from getting spoilt? The sages have made such provision and it is called ‘Satsang’. “Bhagyodayen bahu janma samarpiten Satsangashcha labhate purusho yadaa vai”. i. e. One gets the benefit of Satsang when the virtues of the good deeds performed over many lives get consecrated.
The feast of Shri Krishna janmotsava was celebrated with great joy and fervour on the sixth day of the katha at 9:30 p.m. At that time we felt as if we were living in the Dwapar yug and as if we were in Gokul witnessing the birth of Lord Shri Krishna with our own eyes.
Concluding the katha Pujya Bhaishri emphasizing the importance of love said: ‘Prem jab anant ho gayaa to rom rom sant ho gayaa’ i. e. ‘When the love grew limitless, every pore on one’s existence became saintly’. When love enters one’s life, one becomes a saint. A Saint is the personification of love. Love makes one a true human being.
A collective wedding of the girls from poor families was organized during this katha. On 11th Dec. a grand Shobha-yatra of Shrimad Bhagwad Gita was organized amidst a devotional and joyful atmosphere.
