“Cleanliness is a Service to the Nation” emphasises Pujya Bhaishri on Independence Day of India

This year, Pujya Bhaishri celebrated the Independence of India on 15 August at Sandipani Vidyaniketan in the vicinity of Shri Hari with the Rishikumars, Gurukul students, teachers of Sandipani and guests from Porbandar.

The Indian flag was hoisted by Pujya Bhaishri at 9am in the courtyard of Shri Hari Mandir and saluted with the singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the Rishikumars and Gurukul students presented various cultural, educating and entertaining presentations such as: patriotic songs, dances by the girl students and speeches in Sanskrit and English on the diversities of India.

This was followed by speeches from the teachers and principals of Rishikul and Gurukul. The principal of English Gurukul talked about the good values of the country; Shri Krishna Mishra of Rishikul beautifully presented on the diversities and attributes of India and the Managing Trustee, Shri Madhusudanbhai Mehta, spoke about the cultural trends in India.

Pujya Bhaishri, in his speech, emphasised the need for cleanliness. He said, “Cleanliness is a service to the nation and Shri Hari”. He also advised that we should read the biographies of great leaders and saints. The true identity of an Indian is one who has a house of God and a library in the home.

Grand celebrations were also held at Devka Vidyapeeth and Saputara School on the day, attended by Shri Gautambhai Oza and other guests.
