Sati marat Hari san baru maaga, janam janam Shiv pad anuraaga
Before destroying her body, Sati asked for devotion in Shivji’s feet every birth. Consequently,
tehi kaaran himgiri gruh jaai, janami Parvati tanu paai.
Sati is re-born as Parvati at the Himalayas. Since her birth, her father Himachal’s happiness and wealth has increased greatly. Rishis and ascetics have come and built hermitages everywhere and are praising and worshipping the mother of this universe.
Naradji arrives at Himachal and foretells the future of Parvati intricately and delightfully on the type of husband she will get:
agun amaan matu pitu heena, udaaseen sab sansay cheena,
jogi jatil akaam man nagan amangal vesh, as swami ehi kaha milahi pari hasta asi rekh.
10 qualities are listed: devoid of merits, free from pride, without father or mother, unconcerned, free from doubts, ascetic, with matted hair, heart devoid from longing, stark naked and with hideous clothing and ornaments.
Qualities on their own are neither good nor bad. They become good or bad depending on who possesses them. For example, satisfaction is a good quality in a Brahmin but a bad quality in a king. Both an unsatisfied Brahmin and a satisfied king end up in a loss and are ruined.
If the 10 qualities listed above are seen in a human, they become bad qualities whereas in Mahadev they are good qualities. Will a girl marry a person with such qualities?
·         Devoid of merits – who will give a daughter to a person with no good qualities?
·         Free from pride – who will marry one without self-respect?
·         Without mother or father – we normally check the reputation of a boy’s family first.
·         Indifferent – he is upset all the time and never laughs. One wants to be with a person who is happy.
·         Free from doubts – who will give their girl to one who is fooled even by a child?
·         Ascetic – who would attempt to interest an ascetic in this world?
·         Matted hair – hair styles are so much in fashion and important nowadays!
·         Heart devoid from longing – this is a negative quality for a worldly person.
·         Stark naked and hideous clothing and ornaments – who will marry one who has ashes spread on the body, wears a garland of heads and snake ornaments?
However, when you use these qualities for our Bholenath they become positive points:
·         Devoid of merits – Bholenath is beyond the three qualities of nature.
·         Free from pride – because the Ganga of knowledge flows from his head.
·         Without mother or father – Shivji is the father of this world and the cause of this world.
·         Indifferent – Bholenath is detached from everything in this world.
·         Free from doubts – Bholenath is the form of trust which means that doubt cannot exist where there is trust.
·         Ascetic – He is united with the Supreme Truth.
·         Matted hair – this contains the Ganga of knowledge and devotion. Wow! How beautiful must this matted hair be!
·         Heart devoid from longing – lust burns into ashes if he approaches Shivji.
·         Stark naked – Lord Shankar belongs to the highest status of paramhans. The knowledgeable consider the body as the cloth that covers the soul, so why cover a cloth with another?
·         Hideous clothing and ornaments – however, he is the doer of well-being of others. Also the ashes, garland of heads and snake ornaments bear a significance to provide us with a certain message.
Thus Naradji said to Himachal that these ten qualities belong to Shivji and it would be wonderful if his daughter would marry Shivji. This would be possible if his daughter performs meditation.
