Day 6 – Sati does not believe Shri Ram is Supreme God
Sati would not accept that this is the Supreme God despite Lord Shankar trying to persuade her several times. Shankarji signifies trust which lies in the heart while Sati signifies faith which lies in the mind. The heart believes what has been heard more than what has been seen whilst the mind believes what is seen more than what is heard. Sati’s eyes, therefore mind, are seeing something but the ears, therefore heart, are hearing something different, which is why she does not believe what Shivji is telling her.
Similarly, in our social behaviour, believe in what you see more than what you hear people talking about. Question people before believing whether they have witnessed what they are talking about. On the other hand, in religion, believe in what you hear more than what you see. From a religious what you see in this world is an illusion. If you fall for this illusion you will be trapped! Believe in what our Holy scriptures and saints tell you. This is why in the nine types of devotion the first devotion is Shravanam (to listen).
