Deepavali Celebrations 2009
For the post four years Pujya Bhaishri has been celebrating Deepavali, the festival of lights, at Shri Hari Mandir within the grounds of Sandipani Vidyaniketan with underprivileged children.
However this year, instead of celebrating within Sandipani, the event was held at two other venues within Porbandar with the help of other committees.
The first programme was organised at Sheetala Chowk in collaboration with the ‘Porbandar Nagar Seva Sadan’. New clothes and sweets were distributed to 300 needy children. The President of ‘Porbandar Nagar Seva Sadan’, Shri Sunilbhai Gohel and his team had made wonderful arrangements for this programme.
The second programme was organised at K.B. Joshi Girls School in collaboration with ‘Chhaya Nagar Seva Sadan’. Sweets and new clothes were distributed to 200 children. The President of ‘Chhaya Nagar Seva Sadan’, Shri Bhojabhai Khunti and his team had also made elaborate arrangements to make this programme a success.
The district collector of Porbandar, Shri M.B. Parmar, remained present for both the programmes. Pujya Bhaishri delivered inspiring lectures advising the children to attend their schools regularly and work hard in their studies.
The day was a great success as the children of Porbandar were filled with joy and light from the events.
