Pujan on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima began at 10.00 am on the 2nd of July 2004 at Shri Ashokbhai Mehta’s house. Ashokbhai and wife Leenaben performed the pujan, aarti on the behalf of devotees present and for all the devotees around the world.

Pujya Bhaishri was welcomed at the Sanatan Mandir at 11 am. where he gave a heart rendering discourse on the importance of Guru and their mahima.

Pujya Bhaishri said, “Today is Guru Purnima, one of the most important and auspicious of days. We bow to all the Gurus (teachers) who have the power to put us on the right path. Appropriately so, one of the meanings of the Sanskrit word Guru is ‘weighty’. That says it all! He further explained, “A Guru’s job is not to impart knowledge to the student; his job is to remove a student’s ignorance. The Sanskrit word for one who removes this ignorance is “Hari”. Hari also means God. Hence, Guru is like God. Without a Guru, we just wander in darkness. .

On this day, let us remember all our Gurus. In Indian classical music, we have to first master the note ‘sa’ before we can learn the note ‘pa’. Similarly, in the spiritual tradition, we have to first find a sadguru (sa) before we can find parmeshwar (pa)! Let us express our reverence, our love, and our respect for our Gurus and surrender ourselves to them and their teachings. .
