Haridwar Kumbh Katha
An enlightening Shrimad Bhagavat Katha by Pujya Bhaishri was held in the holy town of Haridwar, during the auspicious event of mahakumbh (an enormous religious sacred fair that takes place every 12 years), from 3rd April 2010 to 13th April 2010. The katha was organised jointly by Swami Govindanandji and Swami Bhaskaranandji in the sacred memory of their late guru Swami Shri Gangeshwaranandji Udasin.
On the first day, the Shobha Yatra commenced from Pujya Bhaishri’s cottage and proceeded towards the katha venue, Guru Gangeshwar Dham, amidst Krishna kirtan. The host family welcomed the Shobha Yatra at the venue and offered their worship to the Pothiji.
Renowned saints like Mahamandaleshwar Param Pujya Gurusharananandji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Param Pujya Raghumuniji, Param Pujya Kalyandevji Baba (Amar kantak) and Mahamandaleshwar Param Pujya Harichetananandji blessed the inauguration of the katha.
Pujya Bhaishri began narrating the katha by saying that this katha will be providing a new direction to the listeners. This auspicious omen taking place during Mahakumbh signifies the blessings of holy mother Ganga for all devotees organising and listening to the katha.
Pujya Shri Ramdevji, the Yoga Guru, came to hear Pujya Bhaishri’s katha on one day. In his speech he said that Pujya Bhaishri is accomplishing a noble task of national awakening through his kathas. In addition, the well known singer of Shri Ram Katha – Shri Prembhushanji, singer of Krishna bhajans – Shri Devakinandanji and the spiritual master Shri Chinmayanand Bapu came to listen to the Shrimad Bhagavat katha.
The Bhagavat katha was narrated in the evenings and telecast on Sanskar channel. In the mornings, Pujya Bhaishri delivered thought provoking lectures on the eleventh skandh (canto) of the Shrimad Bhagavat. The main points discussed were on the Yogeshwar Geeta and the 24 Gurus.
The entire event was indeed a spiritually enlightening experience.
