“Religion does not face danger from non-religiosity but from deception,” said Pujya Bhaishri during Bhagavat Katha in Mumbai, India

Shri Musafir Bhajan Mandal, Ghatkopar organised Pujya Bhaishri’s Bhagavat katha from 7th April to 13th April 2008. The Chief host of the katha was the family of Late Bhanushali Monji Meghji, Hurambada.

Guru Shri Valramji Maharaj, President of Shri Kutchchi Ashram, Haridwar, Shri Ram Mandir Vandhaya, and the ascetic saint Param Pujya Shri Haridasji Maharaj of Shri Valram Tirthadham Murchbana, Kutchchh commenced the katha with deepa pragatya. In his inaugural speech, Shri Haridasji Maharaj said that Shrimad Bhagavat katha is a means of calling Shri Hari. Just as the gopis, Gajendra, and devotees like Dhruva and Prahlad called Shri Hari, similarly we should summon the Lord too. In summoning Shri Hari, Pujya Bhaishri will be our mediator, hence the Lord will be compelled to come to us. Local MLA Shri Prakash Mehta and renowned industrialist Shri Shantibhai Somaiya graced the occasion with their presence during deepa pragatya.

During the katha Pujya Bhaishri stressed that religion does not face danger from non-religiosity, but it is in danger from hypocrisy and deception. Severe damage to religion is caused when people who do not know the meaning of Vedas and scriptures, who have not overcome their ego and have not stayed in the company of a realised Guru, enter the field of religion and pretend to be God. Such deceptive people announce themselves to be Lord Kalki, the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. “Dekhte dekhte janaab Khuda ban gaye, aur yahan barso beete insaan saa hone mein”, meaning, while I spent years in becoming humane, he became god instantly.

Occasions like Narsimha janma, Vaman janma and Shri Ram janma were celebrated during the katha. Shri Krishna janmotsav was celebrated on 10th April with great fanfare. Shri Govardhan puja was performed on 11th April where 56 delicacies (chhappan bhog) were offered to Shri Govardhan prabhu and the prasad was distributed to all the devotees. On 12th April, Shri Rukmini vivah was solemnised amidst joyous atmosphere.
