Residents of Shegaon are blessed with the nectar of Shrimad Bhagavat

On 27th January 2008, Shri Krishna Seva Samiti hosted a Shrimad Bhagavat Katha by Pujya Bhaishri in Shegaon, the sacred abode of Paramhans Yogiraj Shri Gajanan Maharaj. The Chief host of this katha was the family of Shri Rajubhai Muna.

The Shobha yatra began from the samadhi sthal of Shri Gajanan Maharaj. Before the Shobha yatra began, Pujya Bhaishri paid his respects at the temple. He was greeted with the joyous trumpeting of elephants as he entered the temple. During the Shobha yatra, a sankirtan group sang bhajans accompanied by school children dancing gracefully until they reached the katha venue. Pujya Bhaishri and Bhagavatji were welcomed at the katha venue amidst singing of abhangs and bhajans. The whole of Shegaon town appeared as if it were drenched in the spirit of joy and devotion.

Pujya Bhaishri commenced the narration of the katha with the mahatmya (importance of the katha). He said that Shrimad Bhagavat is a ripe fruit growing on the branch of Veda, a kalpataru, i.e. a tree that fulfils any wishes. This fruit has neither a skin nor any seeds to be discarded. Hence the whole fruit is useful. Furthermore, this fruit is in the form of solidified juice, ready to be drunk. To be able to drink this juice, we need some Shukdev to peck at the fruit. The juice from the fruit will then drip down for us to drink. However, this juice is not to be drunk with our mouths; we are to drink this juice through our ears, that is, listen to the Bhagavat katha with full concentration and shraddha.

Shri Krishna janmotsav was celebrated at 10pm on 31st January with a magnificent presentation by the host family. Prasad of panjari was distributed amongst all devotees on the occasion.

Shri Govardhan puja was performed on the afternoon of the 2nd February. Fifty six delicacies (chappan bhog) were offered to Shri Govardhan Prabhu. Every family of Shegaon town had brought some offerings for the occasion. After the pooja, the prasad was distributed to the whole Shegaon town.

Shri Rukmini vivah was solemnized with great aplomb on 3rd February. The procession of the bridegroom arrived at the katha venue after traversing through the entire town.

Pujya Bhaishri also visited Anand sagar of Shegaon during the katha. Shegaon was blessed to have Pujya Bhaishri and listen to the Bhagavat Katha narrated by him.
