Sandipani Vidyaniketan celebrated Raksha bandhan and Shravani parva (renewal of the sacred thread wore by Brahmins) on 4th August 2009 under the auspices of Pujya Bhaishri. Learned Brahmins of Porbandar gathered at Sandipani campus at seven o’clock in the morning. Professor Shri Pravinchandra Pandya, an expert in Vedas, who teaches Vedas at the Sandipani Rishikul commenced the rituals of Shravani parva at 7:30am. Approximately 400 Brahmins participated in this ritual.
The Brahmins assembled in the satsang kaksha (assembly hall) after a bath. Here, they performed tarpan, then casted off the old sacred thread and wore the new one. This was followed by a dashansh havan (yagya). On completion of these rituals Pujya Bhaishri blessed everyone. As per the annual tradition at Sandipani, meals were provided for the Brahmins.

Thereafter, the students of Sandipani had rakhees tied on their wrists by their sisters. This way, the festival of Raksha bandhan was ceremoniously celebrated at Sandipani.
