Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat felicitates Pujya Bhaishri during the Gujarat Gaurav Din celebrations at Porbandar

Porbandar is not only famous in Gujarat and India but is recognized all over the world as the native place of Sudama the schoolmate of Lord Krishna and the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. Hence the importance is significant.

It was perhaps because of this intrinsic significance of this town that Pujya Bhaishri established Sandipani Vidyaniketan here. This year the Government of Gujarat decided to celebrate foundation day of Gujarat as the Gujarat Gaurav Din in Porbandar.

On 30th April 2006 and 1st May 2006 the entire state of Gujarat celebrated its foundation day with pride and enthusiasm. In the evening of 30th April, Pujya Bhaishri, Vasantbawa Shri of Swaminarayan sect and other saints performed the ritual of worshipping the Sea. The entire cabinet of the Gujarat Ministry and the top most officers and executives of Gujarat Government were present to witness this solemn function. The ritual of the Sea worship was conducted under the directions and Vedic Chants of the students of Sandipani Vidyaniketan.

A variety entertainment program was hosted in the evening of 1st May. A drama based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life was also presented. Apart from this various celebrities from different parts of Gujarat were honoured for their contribution in social, cultural, industrial, and educational fields.

During this program Pujya Bhaishri was felcitated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Gujarat Day celebration on 1 st May 2006 at Porbandar.  H.E. The Governor of Gujarat, President of BJP – Gujarat Shri Vajubhai Vala, Education Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel, Energy Minister Shri Saurabhbhai Patel were also present. This function was attended by 50,000 people.
