Shrimad Bhagavat katha is the crown of all Puraans said Pujya Bhaishri during Mulund katha in Mumbai, India
The Mulund Bhagavat katha was organized by Shri Ambaji Dham Bhakta Parivar. This was the fourth katha of Pujya Bhaishri that was being held in Mulund, Mumbai. The katha began on the 19th Nov. with a grand Shobhayatra that commenced in the morning from the temple of Shri Ambaji dham. After passing through various streets of Mulund, the Shobhayatra arrived at the katha mandap, where it was welcomed amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras by learned Brahmins. Pujya Bhaishri performed the worship of the installed deities and the Brahmins. Various saints who had come from Gujarat (Kutchh) were welcomed by the members of the organizing committee. The Chief host of the katha and the founder of the Mulund Ambajidham-Mahakalidham Smt. Kantabahen Gopalji Yadav lighted the auspicious lamp.
Initiating his narration of Bhagavat katha, Pujya Bhaishri said that the Bhagavat katha was the staircase climbing which, one could transform oneself from Nar to Narayan meaning from a human being into God. The Bhagavat is the compilation of the collective wisdom of Paramhansas. It is the staircase that leads to the ultimate state of liberation. It is the life-boat that enables us to sail through the ocean of our existential world. It is the elixir of this universe and the nectar of this earth. Shrimad Bhagavat Puraan is the crown of all Puraans, scriptures. When Bhagavan Shri Krishna set out for his eternal abode he merged his divinity into Shrimad Bhagavat. Therefore Shri Krishna’s divinity is present in every home where Shrimad Bhagavat is present. The Ramayana teaches us how to live while Shrimad Bhagavat teaches us how to die. We should die in such a fashion that we may not have to be born again and again. It is the medicine that cures us from sorrow, fear and allurement. Shrimad Bhagavat is the visible form of Lord Shri Krishna. Merely by listening to the katha of Bhagavat all our physical, mental and spiritual miseries subside. When a fire breaks out in the forest all animals get burnt in it but the elephant which is an intelligent animal runs towards the lake and saves itself. Similarly today when the world is afire with materialistic allurements, being intelligent you should seek refuge in Shrimad Bhagavat and save your self from the heat of worldly fire.
During the katha various festivals were celebrated with great zeal. Manifestation of Shri Nrisimha, Shri Vaman, Shri Rama janmotsav, Shri Krishna janmotsav, etc. were celebrated on the evening of 23rd November. Beautiful visual presentations of these events were presented by the organizing committee.
Many celebrities also came to listen to the katha. Renowned philosopher and thinker Shri Haribhai Kothari in his speech said that Lord Sri Krishna has a special affinity for the alphabet ‘M’. Both Mulund and Mathura begin with letter ‘M’. The audience sitting here is gifted with a subtle intelligence. Lord Krishna was very fond of Mahi i. e. curds. Just as even a little curd can transform the entire milk into curd, similarly we should be soft like curd and transform other people into being soft and sensitive. We should imbibe the essence of life and let our ego melt away. We should get united like the milkmen and milkmaids of Gokul.
On 21st Nov. Shri Manojbhai Doshi of Himmatnagar performed the aarati of 551 wicks.
Various social service activities such as (1) Blood donation camp, (2) Accupressure camp, (3) Accupuncture camp, (4) Awareness campaigns for donating eyes and body, (5) Issuing identity cards for senior citizens, (6) Blood group checking, (7) Dental check-up, (8) Ambulance service, (9) Camp for eye check-up and providing spectacles at subsidized rates, (10) Diabetes check-up camp, etc. were also undertaken during this Bhagavat katha.
