Sunderkand Begins
Sunderkand, the 5th chapter of Shri Ram Charit Manas, is extremely important just like the 10th chapter of the Shrimad Bhagavat and the 5th chapter of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Sunderkand is a guide for spiritual seekers. The main character of Sunderkand is Shri Hanumanji. Hanumanji guides us on what we should do if we want Maa Sita, meaning, devotion for God. Sunderkand is recited by many people and is of great benefit when recited on a Saturday.
Pujya Bhaishri tells us Sunderkand and its great significance in a lucid and exceptional way. Join us this Chaitra month to enjoy, understand and implement this guidance in our life.
The first shloka in Sunderkand is a prayer to Lord Ram:
Meaning…calm, eternal, sinless, transcendent, giver of eternal peace, worshipped by Lord Brahma Shiv and Shesh, known by studying the Vedas, omnipresent,, Sadguru, seen as a human by illusion, destroyer of all sins, merciful, leader of the Raghukul clan, king and the Lord of the universe, I bow to you.
Lord Ram is always calm and talks in a gentle, sweet and reassuring manner. Even when quarrelled or spoke angrily to him, he would not reply back. There will be peace in life if we implement this from Lord Ram during positive or negative times in our life without being shaken up.
The second shloka is a prayer asking Lord Ram:
Oh Lord, there is no other craving in my heart. I speak the truth. Grant me intense devotion to your feet and free my mind from faults like lust etc.
Firstly, do not beg in front of anyone and if you beg, ask God; in addition, ask like Tulsidasji did. It is unwise to ask materialistic things from God who grants devotion and emancipation.
Next, is a prayer bowing to Shri Hanumanji.
I bow to Hanumanji, the repository of strength, with a shining complexion like a mountain of gold, the oppressor of demons, most knowledgeable, the chief of monkeys, devotee of Shri Raghav and the son of wind.
