Somnath, the world renowned temple town of Lord Shiva witnessed a divine confluence of saints from all over India from 6th to 10th Oct. 2003. Prominent saints who registered their presence at this sammelan included Pujya Murari Bapu, Pujya Gurusharananandji Maharaj, Pujya Balakramji Maharaj, Pujya Atul Krishnaji and Pujya Bhaishri. The unique feature of this sammelan was that the morning sessions were open only for the speakers when these saints converged and conferred amongst themselves at ‘Dehotsarg’ the sacred spot where Lord Krishna left his mortal remains which is slightly away from the main town. Thus from 9 a. m. to 12 noon the saints spoke only for the benefit of other saints who had converged to exchange their notes amongst themselves.

This was because, as per the opinion of Pujya Bhaishri: “Not just the common men but even the saints themselves who are treading the sacred path of ‘Bhagwad Gun Gaan’ i. e. singing the glory of God, should be benefited from this confluence of saints”, described as the Triveni since it was being held at the place where three prominent rivers merged with the sea. Pujya Bhaishri further said: “The experiences of noble souls who have lived a life of austerities (Tapasya) should be brought to light in this sammelan so that the forthcoming generations follow their examples and practice their principles and austerities in their own lives. In fact the stories of the divine lives of saints serve as the stepping stones for setting out on the path leading to God. Considering the influence of current times the need for satsang is felt to be most essential for our saints since it is they who have to awaken the divine qualities of Dharma, Bhakti and Knowledge amongst the common people.”

The afternoon sessions of this Sant sammelan were open to general public. Shri Prasannavadanbhai, the President of the Somnath Trust and IAS officer Shri Ashokbhai Sharma were the prominent people who came to listen to the renowned saints. Following the afternoon sessions everyone went to the aarati of Lord Somnath. A Rudrabhishek and a Divyopchar Pujan of Lord Somnath was organized on 9th Oct.2003. On the full moon night of Sharad Poornima, prasad of Sudama’s tandool was prepared and distributed amongst all.
