Yagnopavit (sacred thread) ritual at Sandipani

Rishikumars at Sandipani performed the ceremony of changing the sacred thread on 28 July 2017.

Normally, this ritual is carried out on the day of Raksha Bandhan. However, due to the effect of the planets this year on the day of Raksha Bandhan when Vedic rituals cannot be performed, the ritual was carried out earlier.

The ritual begun at 8am with recitation of Hemadri text, ten types of ablutions, offering respects to and satisfaction of the gods, ancestors and human beings and finally wearing the sacred thread.

All Rishikumars, teachers and Brahmins from the Brahmin Samaj were present. The event was followed by lunch for all. The entire sacred ritual and event was co-ordinated by our teacher, Shri Pravinbhai Pandya.
