Do we want God, or something from God?

There are two types of devotees: one who wants something from God and the other who wants God. In this world there are many devotees who want something from God but how many do we see who want God? Is God our achievement or our means to gain something? Do you want God or something from God? The latter are devotees but selfish devotees. The best devotion is that which wants nothing from God, and only wants God. This is why in the Shrimad Bhagavat, Vritrasur has requested:
‘Oh God, if I wish for anything, let it be you, and nothing from you’.
There is ordinary kindness from God as well as extra-ordinary kindness. Ordinary kindness is where God gives you what you ask for, whilst extra-ordinary kindness is when you have no desire to ask for anything.
