Knowledge is our natural state. Ignorance is not the non-existence of knowledge, but hidden knowledge.

A candle (deepa), which signifies hidden knowledge, is ready. All we need to do is make an effort to light this candle, and God’s grace is present with our effort.

On this auspicious occasion of Deepavali, come and let us all make a resolution to light this candle of knowledge. This resolution will brighten our inner world and decrease the distance between one individual and another.

How will one be enlightened without blossoming? The thorns present with a rose are not the issue. The thorns are actually arranged to protect the rose. Similarly, sorrows are an arrangement to protect happiness. The difference is in our perception. Some perceive the rose amongst the thorns while some see the thorns around the rose. The former is an optimist whereas the latter is a pessimist.

In the same way, we are smiling amidst many hardships in this world. If we observe the rose of happiness then our life will blossom. Do not be upset on seeing darkness.

My sincere wishes for Deepavali are that we will focus on lighting the candle with the grace of our Guru, through which the darkness of many births will cease. Thereafter, we will achieve bliss by gazing at our beloved God in this divine light and brightness.

Utsav hi utsav, yahi nutan jeevan;
Nutan varshabhinandan, nutan jeevanabhinandan.

Meaning, Celebration and only celebration, such is ever-new life,
A prosperous new year, A prosperous new life.

A Very Happy Deepavali and A Prosperous New Year!
