Mumbai Katha begins to contribute to tribal children at Saputara

Shrimad Bhagavat Katha by Pujya Bhaishri in Mumbai began on 20th November 2019 for eight days.

The Shobha Yatra commenced from Shri Laxminarayan Mandir with the recitation of God’s name until the Katha pavilion. The Katha was inaugurated with the auspicious kindling of the lamp by Shri 108 Pujya Paad Shri Rajubaba and other saints.

Shri Trambak Parekh, the Katha co-ordinator, mentioned in his speech that this Katha has been organised to contribute to the education of the tribal children at Sandipani Vidya Sankul, Saputara. This school is managed by Shri Bharatiya Sanskruti Samvardhak Trust presided by Pujya Bhaishri.

On the first day of the Katha, Pujya Bhaishri narrated on the importance of Katha by saying that Katha is not attained through hard work. It is attained through accumulation of good deeds. Until the focus in our life is Lord Krishna, life will not exhaust us but will be blissful. Shrimad Bhagavat Katha is Lord Krishna’s speech. However, we are unable to hear it due to our material attachments, anger, prejudice and being opinionated.

Using the chisel of words and the hammer of the emotions behind those words, the sculptor cleaves the stone to reveal the divinity within it in the precise form he has envisaged when selecting the stone.

God already exists within the rock. The sculptor skilfully removes its covering with complete alertness, patience, clarity, determination, dedication and devotion. The sculptor is ever-alert in his efforts, careful not to strike a blow that breaks the stone because he himself has first selected and approved the stone he is working on.

What is needed is a trusting surrender on behalf of the stone into the able hands of the sculptor. The stone must be prepared to bear the blows, believing them to lead to a manifestation of the divine idol within it. Only that stone which does not fracture, nor crack is fit to be used for this highest goal, the manifestation of the divine from within man.

No stone that offers itself in a spirit of seeking refuge in the sculptor goes to waste. If unable to be the idol, it is used in the spire of or as the step leading to the temple which is also a very significant position to attain.

What is needed, is complete surrender to the sculptor.
