When will Sharad Purnima Arrive? Pujya Bhaishri at Kankeshwari Satsang Mandal in Mumbai

On 13th October 2019, Pujya Bhaishri attended the 50th Golden Anniversary of Shardiya Navratri Anushthan of Kankeshwari Satsang Mandal in Mumbai. Pujya Bhaishri said the following in his speech:

Shri Keshavpuri Bapu, Shri Madhubhai Kutti, Niranjanbhai, Devarajbhai and all present; in Shrimad Bhagavat, the maidens of Vraj worship Maa Parāmbā Bhagavati first. They perform Katyāyāni Vrat (fast of Maa Katyāyāni). When Maa Katyāyāni showers Her grace, they become eligible to enter into Rās. Then comes Sharad Purnima.

We worship Maa Bhagavati in the nine days of Navratri which include: three days of worship of Maa Kali, three days of worship of Maa Laxmi and three days of worship of Maa Saraswati. This way, Maa is worshipped in three ways: through the energy of actions, wealth and knowledge.

When we worship Maa during Navratri, Maa bestows us with bodily energy, such that one does not get tired despite carrying on with continuous seva, just like Manu Kaka who does not get tired. His youth is going to remain long-lived. Secondly Maa gives us the power of wealth. Thirdly Maa Sarawati gives us the understanding on how to utilise these energies God has given us so that it leads to the welfare of all.

Upanishad says, the spirit cannot be attained by the weak. Spirit here means bliss, happiness and self-realisation. Hence one must become mighty. Notice that when you lack energy and are tired, you will not be motivated. Without motivation, you will not feel like doing any work. Thus energy is imperative.

So, if we use the bodily strength, wealth and wisdom that Maa has bestowed upon us for a good cause, then Sharad Punam arrives.

The Sun-god inspires us to take action. Early in the morning, we bow to the Sun god. This way, we make good use of our bodily strength, intellect and wealth. Continuing this way, Sharad Punam will certainly arrive in one’s life.

Vedas say that the moon is related to the mind. So the mind, like the moon on Sharad Punam, blooms. If the mind is completely upset, how can one perform Rās? Rās is not possible without passion. This passion is Shri Krishna. To experience this passion, we must worship Maa Parāmbā Bhagavati. Then, with the grace of Maa, making good use of the strength, it makes us eligible to play Rās with Shri Krishna.

On every full moon day, the moon blooms. However, on Sharad Purnima, the moon has unique importance because on this day, there is presence of nectar in the blooming moon. If one sits in the light of this moon on Sharad Purnima, remembers Shri Krishna, the body absorbs the moon rays well, then this makes the skin healthy and radiant. Hence people play Rās outside on this day. It also gets rid of some diseases.

On this day of Sharad Purnima, we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary Celebrations. Continuity is very important in the spiritual path of devotion. In Porbandar, it has been our 38th Anushthan. I know how joyously you have been celebrating this Anushthan.

As it is Kankeshwari Satsang Mandal, try and hold regular satsang sessions, as a minimum, monthly sessions. This is not through pressure. It is a request if you can manage to continue and develop this journey further.

I have seen so much positivity in Madhubhai. A leader is one who can adjust oneself and get others to adjust. I am so pleased to see all your enthusiasm. Many felicitations on this occasion and may this divine journey continue to progress.
